About Us

The "American Rights and Race Relations: The Legacy of Brown v. Board" started in 2003 as part of the U.S. Department of Education's Teaching American History program. The goal of "Legacy of Brown" was simple: encourage and support the appropriate teaching of the Brown case and of the history of race relations in the United States.

Partners in the project include the Educational Services and Staff Development Association of Central Kansas, Washburn University, the Kansas State Historical Society, Johnson County Community College, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library and Museum, the Harry S. Truman Library and Museum, the United States National Park Service, the Brown Foundation for Educational Equity, Excellence and Research and the Southeast Kansas Education Service Center.
