Question:
Students will examine poems by Langston Hughes, graphs listing lynchings by year and race from 1882-1968, Executive Order 8802, newspaper clippings regarding the Scottsboto Boys trial and a political cartoon depicting Adolf Hitler and the 1943 Detroit Race Riots. Based on their interpretation of the documents, students wil write an essay that analyzes the factors that ed to the changing moods of the African American community from the 1920s to th early 1950s.
